Houston, we have a problem.

The CO2 levels are increasing rapidly resulting in the increased acidification of the oceans that are killing the fish, the coral reefs, and can affect microorganisms like Plankton.

Plankton and Oxygen

The increased UV light and acidification of the oceans can affect and kill Plankton, and Plankton is what gives us our oxygen on earth.

It is true that finding materials on the Moon, or any other large celestial body, such as water is important but it may not be as important as some would believe.

At present time and conditions, taking water to the moon is very expensive. It's similar to taking the first model A ford, loading it with a few gallons of water, and driving it from New York to LA, it's an expensive and long journal.

But if you look at it in terms of technological advances and progress, it isn't really that important. To continue the example, 18 wheelers transport goods, including bottled water, from New York to LA every day.
